Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League table with a 3-0 win over West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, Nathan Ake, and Bernardo Silva were all brought back for Man City, from there win over Fulham. Kevin De Bruyne remained absent.
The Citizens started poorly since West Ham kept them from striking easily for the first 20 minutes or so, but they soon improved. They ended the first half without netting, though.
The home side did get the breakthrough shortly after the break when the returning Ake got on the end of Riyad Mahrez’s free-kick and headed into the bottom corner.
David Moyes’ men pressed forward and were caught on the counter-attack 20 minutes before time as Haaland went free on goal after a through pass by Jack Grealish and lifted a strike over Fabianski to double their advantage.
The Norwegian also beat the record for most Premier League goals in a single season, becoming the first player to do so.
Five minutes before the game’s end, Phil Foden put the Citizens ahead with a deflected long-range shot that caught Fabianski off guard.
City moved one point ahead of second-placed Arsenal at the top of the table, with a game in hand, while West Ham remained in danger of relegation in 15th place, just four points above the drop zone.
